NEW RESTAURANT BRINGS BREAKFAST (AND LUNCH) TO MIAMI TOWNSHIP

With the recent influx of restaurants in the Miami Valley, it doesn’t take an industry insider to realize Daytonians are making dining out the new dining in. This puts the area right on trend according to the National Restaurant Association who reports that Americans spend about 47.9% of their food budget in restaurants. In 2005, this translated into an average of $2,634 per household. And while dinner may be the meal most people think of when dining out, Toledo, Ohio based Scrambler Marie’s is hoping to make breakfast the most important meal of the day.

Scrambler Marie’s Breakfast Bistro, a family-owned restaurant chain with locations in northwest Ohio, Michigan and Columbus has signed a lease with Oberer Realty Services, Ltd., for 4,200 sq. ft. of space at The Exchange at Spring Valley in Miami Township. The Exchange at Spring Valley will be the restaurant’s first Dayton location and will be run by first time franchisee Dr. Ron Pedalino.

Scrambler Marie’s Breakfast Bistro, known for their use of fresh ingredients and made-from-scratch menu selections, is an upscale breakfast/lunch concept restaurant. They will be open daily from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The menu includes traditional breakfast fare alongside specialty items such as a selection of specialty breakfast skillets, breakfast wraps, open-faced omelets and some unique twists on eggs benedict. Lunch items include such time-honored favorites as soup, salad and sandwiches in addition to specialty sandwiches on boulé and ciabatta bread, and a variety of grilled chicken sandwiches or specialty burgers on pretzel buns. Scrambler Marie’s also offers a senior’s menu, kid’s menu and breakfast specials from 6:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.

The first Scrambler Marie’s Breakfast Bistro, then known as Café Marie was opened in Toledo in 1990 by father and son team Phil and Shain Buerk. The original restaurant, named for Phil’s wife Deby Marie, continues to operate today. The new location at The Exchange at Spring Valley is expected to open this spring.

“We are excited about our first operation in the Dayton area. The area’s dynamic market presents many great business opportunities,” said Shain Buerk, president Ten Star Enterprises, dba: Scrambler Marie’s Breakfast Bistro. “We hope to expand in the Dayton market, as we have done in the Toledo and Columbus markets, as part of our long term company growth plan in which we estimate a 40 unit system in the next 5 years.”

Oberer Realty Services, Ltd. currently leases 1.8 million square feet of retail and office space in the Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus markets. They are part of the network of independent operating companies that make up Oberer Companies. Oberer Companies is a third generation family-owned business founded in 1949. Oberer Companies has been distinguished as one of the Dayton area’s top 50 privately held companies and they rank among the area’s top 100 corporations.
